The Illusion Unveiled: A Teaching on the True Nature of Reality

Join us for our monthly Dharma Talk & Sangha Gathering—free and open to all.

About This Month’s Dharma Talk

Emptiness is the word that the Buddha used to describe the nature of reality. Many questions come up as soon as this word is used. Why do you have to use such a depressing word? What is empty? What is it empty of? Are things empty in the sense of being nonexistent? Are they empty in the way a cup is empty of water? If everything is empty, why do we suffer? If everything is empty, why should we care about our virtuous or non-virtuous thoughts and actions? What is the relationship between our ordinary sense of things and their ultimate, empty nature? We will discuss these questions and more at this month’s One Community talk led by Namchak teacher and translator Justin Kirkwood.

About One Community

Each month, we come together for an evening of learning and discussion to deepen our understanding of the dharma and our connection with sangha. Led by a Namchak teacher, thought leader, or staff member, each gathering revolves around a specific topic and lasts 90 minutes.

The session begins with a dharma talk and is followed by a Q&A with the teacher.

We invite Learning Circles, meditation buddies, and individuals to join us, and encourage you to bring friends, family, neighbors, or co-workers along to share in the experience!
